A failed capacitor and tired contactor took cooling out on a 32°C afternoon. Truck stock, house cool again that day.
The outdoor fan hummed and the air inside stayed at 27°C. Amp draw said the compressor was still viable. The capacitor was swollen and the contactor face was pitted.
Both parts came off the truck. We cleared a sluggish condensate drain that would have been the next trip, then confirmed the temperature split.
The homeowner had cool bedrooms by late afternoon and a written note that the condenser is late in life - repair this year, plan a replacement before the next heat wave.
