Winter humidity sat near 20%. The kids woke congested and the piano was losing glue. Portable humidifiers were fogging one bedroom and ignoring the rest of the house.
We added a bypass humidifier on the supply, a 4-inch media cabinet, and an HRV balanced to the home so they could have fresh air without opening windows at −20°C.
They now hold about 35% RH without soaking the windows, and the furnace is not blowing unfiltered dust every cycle.
